The future is now! Okay, so we don’t drive flying cars yet, but in many respects we’re witnessing the invention of gadgets that science fiction writers only dreamed about fifty years ago. (Marty McFly would be so envious!) Think about it, we already walk around with tiny computers, personal assistants, and GPS systems all in the palm of our hand! So what else is in store for consumers?

Part of our technological progression involves developing materials that are both socially conscious and practical! That’s a pretty tall order for most tech companies today. Enter Google, who always seems to be at the forefront of innovation. What does their business model mean for young consumers and will the company bring us into the new age of technology? We believe, yes! They will pass with flying colors!

Read on and get the inside scoop on Google’s newest innovations!

Project Tango aka “Back to the Future For Real”

Google has certainly cornered the market, debuting a series of sleek and sophisticated projects. And they have an eye for the Next Big Thing.

According to Google, the goal of Project Tango is to give mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion. AKA you will be slaves to robots! Just kidding! You’ll be privy to devices that will uncomplicate your life and perform insane operations that were previously delegated to humanoids! Ka-pow!

Google Fiber

According to their website, Google Fiber boasts awesome connection speeds and claims it’s “100 times faster than today’s average broadband speeds.” It also claims that its Instant downloads are of crystal-clear, high-definition TV quality. It also asserts that you can access your content “all in one place” and DVR up to eight programs at a time! If you thought that wasn’t crazy enough, Google Fiber consumers can enjoy a terabyte of cloud storage, fast and powerful WiFi, and many more advanced features.

Android at Home

Remember when you used to go home and switch on the lights, get a soda out of the fridge, and cook a mediocre dinner? Not anymore! The “Android at Home” app allows consumers to interact with various domestic appliances. For example, their climate control app can learn your preferences, remember schedules and routines, sync up with your smartphone, and save battery life! Not too shabby, Google!

Project Loon

Have you heard about this? Project Loon apparently consists of “a network of balloons, floating at the edge of space, providing internet access to rural and remote communities.” This is a great option for people in isolated communities, and has already been tested in Canterbury, New Zealand! The best part about these communication balloons is that they rise or descend depending on the desired direction!

Sustainability and Technology

As we speak, Google is developing ways to fund renewable energy, help prevent social repression, and basically instate world peace! It sounds like a lofty goal, but hopefully the company will use its social reach for the good of mankind! Currently, Google is exploring “a series of case studies that help empower citizens in developing worlds,” and creating “a network against extremism.” Apparently, the company wishes to use their influence to counter religious and political extremism!
